AI that turns alert overload into clear priorities
Posted on: 27th June 2023
The Challenge
Most alerts don't need a human. The hard part is working out which ones do. Our 24/7 security operations centre (SOC) handles 10,000+ alerts a month, and many are repeats of the same activity. Our analysts were gathering the same evidence again and again, instead of investigating the threats our customers needed them on.
What we did with AI
We built an AI triage agent that turns raw alerts into structured cases. It doesn't add another dashboard. It sits inside the workflow our analysts already use and does the groundwork before they pick up a case.
How it works
The agent enriches Microsoft Sentinel and Defender alerts with context, groups related activity into a single case, and drafts a summary linked directly to the supporting evidence. Our automation moves each case through the process. Analysts stay in control: they validate the agent's recommendations and direct the response.
The results
We now group related alerts automatically, so there are 40% fewer duplicate cases. Average triage time has dropped from 25 minutes to eight minutes, giving our analysts three times more time for priority threats. And our customers get clearer, more consistent incident updates, with 95% of case summaries in the same standard format.
