The Client

Innerglass trading as IG Group is one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of non-food consumables to the hospitality, cleaning and leisure sectors. It recently invested £3m in new warehousing and distribution facilities, created new jobs and developed relationships with overseas suppliers to expand its product range.

The Challenge

The business turned to us for help in creating a digital transformation roadmap that would underpin its plans to see turnover reach £50m. With household names depending on swift delivery of its 7000-strong product range, IG Group needed an agile, flexible IT infrastructure that could meet its current and future needs as the business evolved.

Our Solution

We’ve been supporting IG Group for two decades and being invited to advise on this company-wide IT refresh gave us the chance to delve deeper into its strategy for growth, and design a solution that would help the business achieve its goals.

One of our first moves was to host a strategic planning session for the in-house team at our North East ISO27001-certified Tier 3 data centre. Our expert Solutions Architects and Pre-Sales Team sat down with them to look at a range of options that would create a secure infrastructure and modern workplace solution.

The IG Group board decided a switch to our ITPS Cloud offering along with Microsoft 365 was the right solution for its business, and hit the button, prompting our team to swing into action.

The six-month project saw our technical delivery specialists mastermind a smooth migration of operations from IG Group’s own servers into our ITPS Cloud housed in our own high security environment, begin a project to refresh all endpoint devices, upgrade the firewall and add several other vital security wraparound services to strengthen the secure perimeter around the business.

IG Group operates in a fast-paced retail environment and depends heavily on its legacy invoicing and stock control system, which includes a crucial ‘same day delivery’ option. We understand our client’s focus on the high levels of service and support that underpin its reputation, and made sure legacy systems were carefully integrated, with no interruption to day-to-day business.

Moving to cloud and implementing Microsoft 365 was a major step change for staff, and our support team pulled out all the stops to make sure the 90+ users were quickly up to speed, and the business was able to take full advantage of the collaboration, security and productivity benefits that Microsoft 365 delivers.

Part of the strategic growth project involved moving IG Group to a flexible, end-to-end managed service that covers telephone support, remote device monitoring, endpoint security, service management and reporting. All designed to give management complete peace of mind that its IT infrastructure is running securely, and at an optimal cost.

The Outcome

Our work has helped IG Group to transform its IT infrastructure into one designed to cut costs, drive efficiency, increase security and create a platform which allows it to maintain its market lead and safely continue its growth trajectory.

“We are at a pivotal moment in our history, and this was a transformation project for the business. Our brief to ITPS was to create the right IT solution at the right budget, and they hit the mark for us. They’ve been with us on a long journey, and seen us grow dramatically, so they understand our business and what we wanted to achieve, which was a future proof platform that will work for us not just today, but tomorrow and into the future. The solution took into account what we had in place, what we needed, and what we said we wanted. It was a thoughtful approach, and in no way was it a ‘one size fits all’ solution. ITPS has always been our safe pair of hands, supporting our in-house IT team and the wider business. We regard them as a trusted, long-standing partner and we value them for their insight, breadth of knowledge and ability to deliver what they promise, every time. We’re honest, and so are they, so it’s very much a relationship, not just a customer and supplier arrangement. I can throw problems at them, there is always someone I can contact, and always a solution. They understand us and they go the extra mile for us, and that’s a solid combination. We are proud to have them as our partner.”
